After building serious momentum with her globally acclaimed performance at the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Eclipse’ last month, Delta Goodrem - one of Australia’s most successful singer songwriters of all time - releases her anticipated brand-new single “Hologram”. It’s the second offering from her upcoming album “Pure”, giving listeners an early insight into the sound of the new era having recently signed with Universal Music via Better Now Records/Electrola.
The new single is a powerful and uplifting pop anthem, reflecting a resolve to no longer be blinded by illusion. “A hologram allows you to see the same image from different angles, and that became the spark for the song,” Delta says. “Hologram is about that moment when someone- or something- suddenly comes into focus. It's about seeing beyond the promises, the fantasy and the smoke and mirrors, and finding strength in what is real. But it's also about doing that without losing your sense of wonder. It's that moment of clarity when the illusion falls away, you trust what you see, and you are empowered. At this stage of my life and career, I'm drawn to transparency and authenticity. Hologram reflects that journey of trusting what is true while still embracing imagination, and playfulness. For me, it's about having the wisdom to see beyond the illusion, while still dancing in the magic of it all.”
“We actually wrote Hologram on the very same day as Eclipse,” Delta continues about the creative process that inspired her new single. “We were having so much fun in the studio. This song started with my songwriters and me late at night, surrounded by pianos, guitars and instruments, picking them up, singing harmonies and following wherever the music wanted to take us. We had been diving into the history of Eurovision and revisiting all the decades of music that have come from there - ABBA being one and there was definitely a sense of leaning into that inspiration and celebrating the joy of it all. What I love about Hologram is that it came from a place of spontaneity. There was no overthinking, just musicians in a room chasing a feeling. While Eclipse explored something more cinematic and emotional, Hologram felt like its carefree friend; playful, colourful and completely alive.”
In addition, Delta has just commenced her UK and European tour dates which instantly Sold-Out when announced soon after dominating at the Eurovision Song Contest held in Vienna in May, where she did her beloved Australia proud. Later this year she will be a participant on one of the UK’s most watched TV shows “Strictly Come Dancing”.
